Mentalita Magazine introduces the Bicske Tigers

Bicske is a town in Fejér county of Hungary. It is about 35 km from Budapest and about the same distance divides this 12 000 big town from Székesfehérvár.

The Bicskei Torna Club was founded in 1912, the founder was Gyula Prockl and the first chairman Vilmos Szeifhardt. The biggest success of the association is the promotion to NB 3, which is the 3. tier of the Hungarian football championship. At the moment the BTC occupies the 10. place between 20 teams. This is their third spell in the 3. league. For the first time in the history of BTC, the club got promoted in 1994 when it was classified in the Danube group of the NB3. At the end of its first season the team occupied the 8th place of the league table. The euphoria lasted only two years and in 1996 the presidium of the Bicskei TC did not enter the football team in the championship. In the national sports journal an advertisement was published: "NB3 team's licence is for sale". Bicske had to restart in the district championship, which is the 6, tier of the Hungarian football, in absolutely amateur conditions. However, they were not discouraged and in 2010 the BTC returned to the NB3. This advanture lasted also only two years, but the time spent in the purgatory was already shortened so that the sons of Bicske would return to NB3 with strength and determination.

A new grouping started on the ashes of Bicske Fanatics in 2003. A group of 30 friends decided that if it blow high, or blow low, they would follow the footballers in every game.Mentalia Magazine talked to Csaba Kiss, one of the leaders of the Bicske Tigers:

MM: What should we know about the Bicske Fanatics?

BT: This group was formed in 1995 and has been active for two years. Fanatics had 4 members at the time. This period can also be called as the formation of the Hungarian ultra-movement. The good old days ... We were young, we loved football ...

MM: Why is the new group called Tigers?

BT: Fight like a tigress for her cubs. We invented it at a house party. After that the name sticked with the group and we became Tigers.

MM: This time it seems to be a bigger group. How many members does the fan club have?

BT: As I mentioned before 30 of us founded the Bicske Tigers and at the moment we have 136 members. We are present everywhere. The travelling support usually counts about 20-30 heads, at home we try to be there in full numbers

MM: Do you have any friends or enemies?

BT: We were in the county league for quite some time. We didn't really meet a similar ultra group there, that is why we do not really have enemies. Our friends are the ultras from Budapest's 3.district and the Nagykanizsa Fenegyerekek group.

MM: What would be the motto of the Tigers?

BT: This has to be played for a lifetime and beyond. We always have a only one request to the team. Fight on the field, do everything for the Club, for the Crest of the city., for Us.

MM: How long do you want to go on with this active lifestyle?

BT: As long as we find joy in it and have the strength or until the kids who see it hear it week by week grow up and take over from us.

MM: What is the Bicske Tigers's connection to the Hungarian national team?

BT: Many used to be regular visitors at the national team matches in the past. There are between us members, who support the Ferencváros, Újpest, Videoton or Kispest but we always agree on one thing: we are Hungarians and we are Bicske localpatriots.

MM: How do you get by in this coronavirus period?

BT: The organization of an invisible match against Pápa can be considered the greatest charity action of our existence. 1690 tickets were sold and the entire proceeds were used to help the elderly and those in need in Bicske. We are also actively involved in beautifying our city. We want to set an example for everyone.

MM: What are the most beautiful experiences of the group?

BT: Definitely the 2019 league final, the match won against Mór. With this win, we have got within reach from the fulfillment of our dream. In the playoffs we got the neighboring Tatabánya. At home, 1,500 spectators encouraged the BTC, while 300 accompanied the boys to the away game.

MM: What are your desires and dreams? What do you want to achieve with your team?

BT: Our dream is to see as many winning Bicske goals as it is possible. We would like to stay in the NB3 longer than 25 years ago. We are a small town here in Fejér county, but the municipality maximally supports the football team. The government grants were used by the club to develop the stadium. We have floodlights and a training ground with artificial turf now. There are also 200-300 regulars at every home game.

We wish you much success in the future as well. We wish that this spirit and fanatism lasts as long as possible!!!
